Carving: In celebration of wildness
Enchanted by the natural world, my carvings explore the essence of animal and human spirit, in primal, symbolic and heartfelt ways.

Owl Hunting - English Alabaster

Fawn - Cornish Soapstone

Little Bear - Cornish Soapstone

Bear Fishing - Bronze from carving
“I work with native stone, English alabaster and Cornish serpentine, quarried from the land I love. I have also worked with and been inspired by found ‘wild’ materials, such as twigs, chalk, mud, and old gnarled wires pulled from collapsed fences in hedgerows, shaped by nature and its elemental ways.”

Alabaster Torso

Raven - Cornish Soapstone

Seven Ages of Female - alabaster and soapstone
“As I carve, forms and ideas come from the stone. This is a sort of conversation.”
“With my hands around the stone, I feel for its resonant messages and seek inspiration from my memories of a life in love with nature. However, the actual finished figure is not definitely determined until some way into carving.”

Stag - life-size from twigs
