Carved linoleum, hand-printed with oil paints onto a variety of bespoke Japanese paper.
“The wind blew, the white foam flew, The furrow followed free; We were the first that ever burst into that silent sea”
I like to draw the flow and essence of a creature’s energy, looking at their self-possessed beauty and wild dignity. I approach my lino cutting as if carving, working into the surface, shaping the flow of the landscape. As with working with the surface of my stone carving, I use and see the graphic marks left by the working of tools as a vital surface expressing life and movement.
